Opportunity Bank Uganda Leads the Way in Agricultural Finance with 9 Wins at 2025 ACF Awards

Opportunity Bank Uganda marked a landmark moment at the 15th anniversary of the Bank of Uganda Agricultural Credit Facility (ACF) Awards, taking home 9 out of 16 top honours in a night that celebrated excellence and innovation in agricultural finance.

Hosted at the Sheraton Hotel in Kampala, the awards recognised financial institutions advancing Uganda’s agricultural economy through inclusive and impactful lending. Opportunity Bank emerged as the standout performer, reaffirming its leadership in expanding access to finance for underserved communities.

This recognition is a "powerful affirmation of our mission to champion agricultural finance and deepen financial inclusion across Uganda,” said Owen Amanya, CEO of Opportunity Bank Uganda.

The bank's wins included:

  • Overall Best Performing Financial Institution (Credit & Microfinance category – ACF)

  • Highest Number of Loan Applications Submitted (BOU – ACF)

  • Highest Absorption Rate by Loan Value Disbursed (ACF & SBRF)

  • Widest Outreach in Underserved Regions (ACF)

  • Most Loans Disbursed to Small Borrowers (≤ UGX 100 Million – ACF)

  • First Runner-Up: Most Loans Disbursed in Underserved Regions (SBRF)

  • Overall Best Performer in Credit & Microfinance Deposit-Taking Institutions (SBRF)
