The International Finance Corporation (IFC) has announced a USD 5 million local currency loan to Bank Arvand, aimed at expanding access to finance for micro and small businesses, housing, and energy efficiency projects in Tajikistan.

The partnership, building on IFC's relationship with Bank Arvand since 2019, specifically targets women-led enterprises and underserved entrepreneurs who face challenges accessing traditional credit facilities. The long-term financing will also enhance housing finance accessibility in rural areas of Tajikistan.

"Micro businesses and women entrepreneurs are a key part of Tajikistan's economy. This financing will make it possible for more of them to expand and create jobs," said Shoira Sodiqova, Chairperson of Bank Arvand.

The funding represents IFC's continued commitment to supporting financial inclusion and sustainable development in Central Asia, with particular focus on empowering women entrepreneurs and promoting energy efficiency in the region.
