Verity Credit Union Awards USD120,000 to Support Underserved Entrepreneurs Across Washington
At the beginning of the year, Verity Credit Union has awarded a total of USD 120,000 in grants to 16 startups and nonprofits led by BIPOC and women entrepreneurs, aiming to strengthen economic equity and community resilience across Washington state.
The funding comes through Verity’s newly expanded “Grants for Growth” programme, which provides flexible financial support to small businesses and grassroots nonprofits that often face barriers to traditional funding. Microbusinesses can receive up to USD 10,000, while nonprofits are eligible for USD 5,000 grants to support operations and community programs.
According to Verity leadership, the initiative is designed to put capital directly into the hands of those building local economies through job creation, financial education, and culturally rooted services.
This year’s recipients represent a wide range of community-focused efforts, including affordable housing initiatives, culturally reflective food businesses, youth mentorship programs, and organisations supporting financial literacy and workforce development. Several awardees plan to use the funds to expand hiring, increase wages, and improve access to essential services.
