Opportunity Bank Uganda appoints Allen Semboze as CEO

Opportunity Bank Uganda has appointed Allen Semboze as its new Chief Executive Officer, taking the helm at a pivotal moment in the bank's development following its transition from a Tier I commercial bank to a Tier II credit institution.

Semboze brings over two decades of experience in banking, digital financial services, and microfinance, and steps into the role as the bank accelerates its digital transformation — with digital transaction volumes growing 1.8 times in 2025 and 69% of customers now using digital channels. Agriculture finance remains a core focus, accounting for more than one-third of the loan portfolio, while the bank has also expanded its presence in the Rwamwanja Refugee Settlement, increasing refugee lending to UGX 1.2 billion (approximately USD 320,000).
