Triodos Bank secures B Corp recertification under new stricter standards
Triodos Bank has successfully achieved B Corp recertification under B Lab’s revised and more demanding standards, becoming one of the first financial services organisations to complete the process.
Triodos first became the first pan-European bank to achieve B Corp certification in April 2015, coinciding with the official launch of the movement in Europe. The recertification marks a new chapter in that relationship, with the bank welcoming the higher bar for environmental and social performance and the stronger focus on accountability, transparency, and continuous improvement.
Jacco Minnaar, Chief Commercial Officer at Triodos Bank, said: “We see ourselves as a frontrunner in sustainable finance and we welcome the independent challenge to keep improving and to be transparent about where further work is needed.”
In a further demonstration of that commitment to transparency, Triodos has chosen to publish the findings of its assessment, including areas identified for improvement, such as enhancing the visibility of grievance mechanisms and strengthening due diligence processes for suppliers. “Being transparent about the findings is an important part of what this certification should mean,” Minnaar added.
