Merkur has been certified with HappyIndex® AtWork for 2023

Merkur places a high priority on social responsibility. Therefore, it is clear from Merkur's ambition that the cooperative works actively for a world with dignity, respect and care for every single person. The leading star uses Merkur in relation to customers, but also in relation to Merkur as a workplace.

"A cornerstone of Merkur's organization is our competent and committed employees. Therefore, we continuously work to ensure a good working environment, and in this connection we chose to try our hand at the HappyIndex®AtWork certification," says Katrine Rosengren Norup, HR manager at Merkur Andelskasse.

HappyIndex®AtWork is awarded to companies with a remarkably good working environment. The certification is carried out by the French B Corp company ChooseMyCompany. To achieve the certification, a company must have a minimum of 3.81 points on a scale from one to five. Merkur's score is 4.5. 

Values ​​and job satisfaction go hand in hand

83% of Merkur's employees are so satisfied with their workplace that they would recommend others to work for the value-based cooperative fund.

"We can see from the comments in the answers that there are two primary reasons for the great result. Firstly, Merkur's values ​​give a sense of meaning to the individual - it simply means something that we work to make the world a better place," explains Katrine Rosengren Norup and continues: "But the employees also confirm that we as an organization prioritize the working environment high, that there is a lot of flexibility and that we have a relatively flat hierarchy.” 

An anonymous questionnaire survey among all employees forms the basis for the certification. Although most of the responses are positive, there are also comments from employees that point to areas where Merkur can do better.

"These kinds of comments are incredibly valuable, because they give us an indication of where we need to work further, so it's not because we're going to rest on our laurels. But I now think we can allow ourselves to be proud of the result we have achieved," concludes Katrine Rosengren Norup.
