Cooperative Bank of Karditsa is awarded by the European Microfinance Network (EMN)
Cooperative Bank of Karditsa was awarded the 2024 "Maria Nowak" Research Fellowship during the European Microfinance Network (EMN) Annual Conference in Bucharest on June 21, 2024.
The winning proposal of Cooperative Bank of Karditsa on "The impact of climate change on rural communities" impressed the evaluation committee by focusing on the critical issue of assessing the impact of climate change on rural communities and how cooperative banks/microfinance institutions can be better equipped to help these communities prepare for and recover from such events, through products and services tailored to their needs.
The proposal was prompted by the challenges faced by the rural population of Thessaly following the recent devastating floods in the region.
For the purposes of the research, EMN will publish a Call for Expression of Interest in the coming period for a researcher-fellow to support the bank in this project.
