Climate First Bank has partnered with 4ocean, a global ocean cleanup organisation, committing to remove 12,000 pounds of plastic and debris from oceans and coastlines within 12 months. For every new account opened, the bank funds the removal of one pound of plastic from the ocean.
The partnership with 4ocean puts that mission into direct action. Plastic pollution sends millions of pounds of waste into the world's oceans every year, damaging marine ecosystems and coastlines. Through this initiative, everyday banking becomes part of the cleanup, with progress tracked publicly via a live dashboard showing pounds of plastic removed to date.
